Tickwork Lite: Big Numbers & Number Formatting for Godot 4 (free)
A downloadable tool
Free, MIT-licensed number core for Godot 4 idle and incremental games, taken from the full Tickwork framework.
- TickNum: numbers far beyond float range. Plain 64-bit floats below 1e300 (whole numbers up to 2^53 are represented exactly), mantissa × 10^exponent above (64-bit exponent; 1e1000000 is tested). About 15–16 significant digits, like a float.
- TickFormat: 1.23M, scientific (1.23e45), engineering (12.3e45), letters (aa, ab ...), full with separators (1,234,567) and durations (1h 02m). Rounding carries correctly (999,999 → 1.00M).
- Save strings that store the raw 64-bit value (
to_exact_string()/parse()). In our tests, values came back bit-for-bit.
var gold := TickNum.of("1.5e420").mul(3) # 4.50e420
TickFormat.format(1234567) # 1.23M
TickFormat.format(TickNum.parse("1e18"), TickFormat.Style.LETTERS) # 1.00ab
Install: copy addons/tickwork_lite into your project. No plugin needs enabling. An example script is included.
Tested on Godot 4.7.2 (Windows). Other versions are not tested. Code and documentation were written with AI assistance and checked with automated tests.
Need the rest? Tickwork adds generators, upgrades, achievements, prestige layers, offline progress, versioned saves with backup fallback, a complete demo game and a headless balancing simulator that shows when players reach each unlock and where they will hit a wall. If you install the full version, delete addons/tickwork_lite first (both define TickNum and TickFormat).
